Space Microbiology
The UKCA is involved with experiments to study microbial growth in space.
The UKCA has developed microbial growth apparatus to study the effects of microgravity on microbial growth in orbit and beyond. This work has been done in conjunction with the European Space Agency and Kayser Italia. The UKCA also has collaborations with the Scottish Microelectronics Centre (SMC) at the University of Edinburgh to develop sensors for the exploration and study of extreme environments. It is generally interested in experiments and apparatus that allow for the study of microbial life in space.
